PACKING TIPS
One of the most important parts of a successful move is proper packing. Here are a few packing tips to help ensure a smooth move.

-
Start packing the items you don’t use every day, several weeks in advance.
-
Pack and unpack breakables over a padded surface to minimize the chance of breakage.
-
Use the right box for the item(s) making sure not to over or under load the box. Typically, the heavier the item, the smaller the box.
-
Be sure to completely fill every box, leaving no wiggle room. Packing materials don’t have to be costly, the following items can used as packing material saving you time and money.
-
Kitchen and bath towels
-
Sheets, blankets, and pillows
-
Clothing that can be rolled or folded
-
Newspaper (do not use for lampshades, fabric or fine China as the ink can permanently stain these items)
-
-
Boxes must always be taped rather than interlocking the ends together.
-
Be sure to tape the bottom of the box well as the top.
-
Put detailed labels on the tops and sides of all boxes.
-
If possible, avoid mixing items from different rooms in the same boxes.
-
Medications, medical devices, important legal documents, valuables, and family medical records should be personally transported.
-
By law, we cannot transport hazardous materials such as:
-
Gasoline or empty gas cans. Mowers, generators, etc. must be run “dry” prior to moving.
-
Propane tanks, empty or full
-
Cleaning supplies, aerosols, or bleach
-
Ammunition, fireworks, or gun powder
-
-
Pack an essential box of things that you will need immediately at your new home and make sure it is loaded last on the truck so that the contents will be immediately available at your new home.
